Knitting and Cocoa!

I'm having a wonderful day!  Knitting, crocheting, drinking cocoa while every so often getting up and doing dishes or folding sheets. Very pleasant.

DIY hand sanitizer

I made my own hand sanitizer! 1 part apple cider vinegar, 2 parts clear aloe vera gel (the kind for eating,) enough peppermint extract so it doesn't smell like vinegar (about 1/2 tsp) and 1 drop of green food coloring.  I don't know how well it works but it was fun and my hands feel good.

The Argiope and the Hummingbird

I was going to the garage to get a shovel to dig holes for the mums and I saw a hummingbird flapping around, stuck in a web. My camera was inside, upstairs and I didn't want the spider to do anything while I was getting it.  So I saved the bird and have a picture of the spider - they were the same size, it was amazing. Thank you, Lord, for animals in my life.

Presents

Wrapped my sister's birthday presents and made a quick little crochet flower hair clip for the niece as a bow.

one of the last days of August

I've had a cold.  Bleh. I take pictures of ingredients and try to make the things myself. This is the list for dog treats.

I love having a garden

We had to trim the nectarine tree so the squirrels stop climbing on the roof.

Farming in the City

These are some of the nectarines left on the tree in our front yard, after we lightened its load.  Some for the neighbors, some for the birds, some for us...the stinkin' squirrels have already helped themselves to plenty, leaving the pits all over the porch.

A Little Paint On The Porch

Painted wood is better than unfinished wood, especially with carpenter bees around.

I Guess There's No Hurry

When we both have the day off, we go for a drive then watch movies. So here's a sunflower that planted itself in the middle of the yard.

Sometime, We'll Replace the Tub

Until we replace the tub with a claw foot or tiled shower area, we'll keep this old scratched up one and use it as a pool for the bearded dragons.

A Day Off

It's hot outside so I'm staying in. Farmer's Market this morning, Willie Wonka and a salad - done. Now I'm knitting, drinking a beer and watching Star Trek until Eddie gets home.

Some Things I Learned About Stripping Laminate Glue

 Eat first
Get a chemical blocker dust mask
Spray a lot if you don't want to scrape and tire out your cramping arm
I prefer to not spray too much and have more scraping - it's a poison thing

Stripping Laminate Glue off the Kitchen Cabinets

Time to find out if this stuff will work...

Jalepeño

I just picked the very first jalepeño for a homemade pizza. We got the plant from the farmers market down the road. The tomatoes seeded themselves from last year's plants! Yippee!

Window sill

The window sash on the back porch came off, so I fixed it. Hopefully, I'll do the other side and paint the whole thing.  I'm really glad there was paint in the basement!
